Katharine Taylor

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Originally from Aberdeen, Katharine has lived in Edinburgh for the past 18 years. She spent four years as a volunteer teacher of English in the Sudan and in China in the 1980’s and her interest in development issues led to her completing an MSc in Tourism Management in 2000. She now works for Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, on improving awareness and provision for users of public transport, walkers and cyclists, and on issues relating to cycle tourism, transport, carbon emissions and climate. Katharine thinks that information on where, how and what can be reused and recycled should be more easily available. She also like to see government begin serious preparation for the changes to our society that will be brought about by the immediate need to reduce carbon emissions and, in the longer term, the depletion of global oil and gas supplies.
