Another busy weekend on the campaign trail. The election is less than 10 weeks away so Friday evening was spent with Callum MacLellan, getting some final photos for my election leaflet. It was striking how many Green Party members I bumped into while we were out and about. That membership surge is really showing.
Then, on Saturday, it was another stint of delivering election special ward newsletters with my own ward team in Meadows and Morningside and more planning and writing for the week ahead.
Sunday morning brought some further good news, with the latest Yougov poll showing the Greens on course to treble our number of MSPs. Our 6% of the 2nd vote is just 1% behind the Lib Dems. I said in my last blog that one (or even two) polls do not signify much but I have to say that this growing momentum is what I am hearing as I go door to door as well.
Finally, warm wishes to Edinburgh Green Party activists, Nicky and John Palmer, whose son, Tom, was in the England rugby team which beat France in a nail-biting match yesterday. Not only that, but Tom was named man of the match!
But I am sure Nicky and John won’t mind me hoping that Tom suffers a temporary lapse of form when England play Scotland in two weeks time. It looks like Scotland will need to depend on it…
