Scottish Parliament and Local Election Results 2007

Robin Harper elected for third time as Green MSP for Lothians.  Unfortunately, we lost Mark Ballard as the second Green MSP for Lothians.

3 councillors elected to City of Edinburgh Council for the first time: Alison Johnstone to Meadows/Morningside Ward; Maggie Chapman to Leith Walk Ward; and Steve Burgess to Southside Newington Ward.

Near misses for Ian Baxter in Bonnyrigg Ward in Midlothian and Gavin Corbett in City Centre Ward in Edinburgh.

Katharine Taylor

Originally from Aberdeen, Katharine has lived in Edinburgh for the past 18 years. She spent four years as a volunteer teacher of English in the Sudan and in China in the 1980’s and her interest in development issues led to her completing an MSc in Tourism Management in 2000. She now works for Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, on improving awareness and provision for users of public transport, walkers and cyclists, and on issues relating to cycle tourism, transport, carbon emissions and climate. Katharine thinks that information on where, how and what can be reused and recycled should be more easily available. She also like to see government begin serious preparation for the changes to our society that will be brought about by the immediate need to reduce carbon emissions and, in the longer term, the depletion of global oil and gas supplies.

Fiona Paterson

Fiona was born and brought up near Glasgow and moved to Edinburgh to study at Heriot-Watt University. She has worked as a support worker with disabled people, teacher and administrator before setting up her own business as a translator.
