Ruth is 23 and currently the Scottish coordinator of Stop Climate Chaos - a coalition of over 40 environmental, development and faith organizations campaigning to halt human induced climate change. In 2005 she was chosen from 1500 international candidates to be a Climate Change Ambassador – a role which involved working closely with the WWF to monitor climate change impacts in Greenland.
Ruth was the 2005-2006 President of the Edinburgh University Students’ Association. She led major campaigns against top-up fees, for a more sustainable university and for improved public transport in the Lothians. Before that, she was editor of both the University’s Student newspaper and the Students’ Association magazine, which led to her winning a highly competitive internship with the Observer.
Ruth was born on the Isle of Harris but now lives in Edinburgh with her partner. She is Convener of the Scottish Young Greens.
