A personal message from Gavin Corbett, Green candidate for Fountainbridge / Craiglockhart Ward.
“The elections this year have been a long time coming. I have lived in this area for more than 20 years. My children go to school here and, for many years, I have been an active member of the community: at playgroup, at school, in the Shandon Local Food Group, in Harrison Park and in local campaigns to improve the area.
“I am standing because I am passionate about the area and about the community here. As a councillor I can do so much more, with local people, to continue to improve what we have here.
“But, as a Green candidate, I am competing with big political machines. They have ranks of press officers and funding from wealthy individuals or big organisations. I am lucky to have a great team of helpers and volunteers working with me and I believe I can compete by using every penny I have efficiently. And that is why I am launching my own appeal to raise £500 towards the £1,200 or so that I estimate my team will spend in the area – ensuring that we are able to get our message out to every household.
