Your Green Councillor

Cllr Maggie Chapman

Maggie Chapman is our local Green councillor in Leith Walk ward.

Maggie has lived in Edinburgh for more than 13 years, having moved to the UK from Zimbabwe where she was born and brought up.

She has been the Green councillor for Leith Walk since May 2007, and is the Green spokesperson for Finance, Economic Development, Health and Social Care, Housing and Pensions. In the last five years she has campaigned for a Living Wage for Council employees and contracted staff, prevented the tendering of adult care and support services, fought against the privatisation of a range of council services, and introduced participatory budgeting to the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership.

As well as her councillor role, Maggie currently teaches geography and environmental philosophy at Edinburgh Napier University and is an EIS union representative.  She has worked in the west of Scotland in Environmental Management, and as a community carer throughout Edinburgh.

Maggie also keeps a blog and can be found on twitter (@MaggieEdinburgh).

For full information on contact details and surgery times see Maggie’s details on the City Council website.
