Our candidate for the 4 May 2017 City of Edinburgh Council elections in Sighthill/Gorgie ward is Dan Heap. Dan (29), lives in Dalry and works as a university lecturer in social policy in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Born and raised in Lancashire, he was educated at Cambridge University, moving to Edinburgh in 2009 to study for a PhD. Dan’s academic research focuses on welfare reform, and he has highlighted the impact of recent changes to benefits. He is co-author of Scotland Against Sanctions, a report now adopted by the Scottish Government, laying out how new powers being devolved to Scotland can be used to significantly reduce the number of benefit sanctions.

Dan’s priorities include creating more and better community greenspace, ensuring all residents have an affordable home, making local public services more accountable and creating a publicly owned local energy company to sell low-cost energy to local people and businesses.”

We’re always looking for volunteers and donations to help us make Edinburgh a Greener and Fairer City.
