A native of Cumnock in Ayrshire, Gavin has lived in the area for 20 years, with his family. He founded Shandon Local Food Group in 2009 and was chair of the Parent Council of Craiglockhart Primary School between 2007 and 2011, at the same time starting up Edinburgh Parent Councils Network.
Gavin also works as Head of Policy for Shelter Scotland and writes a monthly column in the voluntary sector newspaper, Third Force News. He maintains a small garden and is a keen camper, hill-walker and cyclist.
