Stop school closures

In the 2007 Edinburgh City Council elections Greens ran on an explicit manifesto pledge to oppose school closures.  Our Green councillors will honour that pledge, fighting Liberal Democrat-SNP plans to close schools, nurseries and community centres.  We will work constructively with other opposition councillors in doing so, while recognising that the origins of the schools closure programme lay with the previous Labour administration and recognition that years of Tory laissez-faire attitudes to education have led the city to where it is now.

We want to work with children and young people; parents and carers; and communities to develop a forward-looking and positive future for the city’s primary schools, nurseries and community centres.
