Sunday’s Pedal On Parliament event turned out to be even bigger than last year’s, with an estimated 4,000 cyclists taking part.
In a well-received speech, Alison Johnstone told the crowd “I want to see a Scotland where cycling is the norm. Until cycling on our roads is safe for everyone, from 8 years to 80 years, we have not succeeded.
“The progress to date…has been far too slow. Let’s have more cash now!”
Pointedly referring to the Environment Minister who was standing nearby, she went on to say “We all get it, so what on earth are we waiting for?”
