The Scottish Green Party is calling on Ministers to insulate every home in Scotland. A quarter of Scots still live in fuel poverty, many with damp homes, all leaking money. Tackling this problem effectively means putting in loft and cavity wall insulation
for free, and it means providing substantial financial support for micro-renewables and other energy efficiency measures.

In October 2008 Cllr Maggie Chapman called on Edinburgh Council to investigate how a scheme like the Kirklees warm zone could be implemented in Edinburgh (item 10.10 here). The Council reported back to the Health, Social Care & Housing comittee in May 2009 – unfortunaly recommending that a similar universal scheme not be taken forward.
Greens will continue to push for universal insulation measures across edinburgh – as well a pushing for smaller improvements until then
