This event was to be part of the selection process to choose Green candidates to stand for election to council in Edinburgh in 2022, and for the Craigentinny Duddingston by-election to be held in May 2020.
Following advice from Scottish Green Party’s national executive, the branch committee of the Edinburgh Greens have decided to suspend all face-to-face activities across the city, due to the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 virus (commonly known as coronavirus). This includes cancelling in-person branch and local team meetings, the upcoming hustings meeting on 19th March, and any canvassing and leafleting, until further notice.
We will be looking to move as many activities online as possible, including holding the hustings for both the Craigentinny-Duddingston by-election selection and the 2022 Council candidate selection online. Further information on the two hustings, including dates and links to watch them online, will follow shortly. The scheduled in-person hustings event, originally planned for 19th March, has been cancelled.
We are still accepting nominations for candidates for both the 2022 Council elections (deadline 11:59pm Monday 16th March) and the Craigentinny-Duddingston by-election (deadline midday Wednesday 18th March) – so do send us your forms if you’re keen to stand as a candidate! (If you still need the forms, please email kate.nevens@scottishgreens.
Please look out for details of arrangements for online candidate selection – coming soon!
