The General Election: An economy for the people, a society for all Where: Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge (map) When: April 23rd, 7.30pm Speakers: Peter McColl and Patrick Harvie MSP, SGP Co-convener
Two weeks before polling day, come and hear about the Green vision for Westminster. Our national target candidate, Peter McColl, will talk about our campaign in Edinburgh, and the key priorities of our manifesto: – equality not poverty, with a £10 minimum wage for all workers – public services in public hands, nationalising our railways and protecting our NHS – power to communities, more powers for Scotland and for our local communities.
This election offers us the opportunity to present the green alternative to the austerity and privatisation agenda of the elitist Westminster parties, and show how politics needs to be transformed to deliver the social, environmental and economic justice we all want and need. Patrick Harvie will discuss the broader political context of the elections, looking ahead to Holyrood 2016 and Local Authority elections in 2017.
There will be the opportunity for general discussion, and as usual, there will be a gathering for a drink after the meeting. Open to all, but members are welcome to come at 7pm to meet the committee and ask any questions they may have.
