Bids are now welcome for South East Edinburgh Greens’ Auction of Promises fundraiser. We have eclectic mix of goodies donated by Edinburgh Greens members.
The Promises
1. Indoor Plant Cuttings. Donated by Ben Parker. A selection of indoor plant cuttings, ready to be potted up and enjoyed! For example: Ceropegia (string of hearts), Pothos (devil’s ivy), Hedera helix (English ivy), Tradescantia zebrina (wandering jew), Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant), Monstera adansonii (monkey mask monstera). Current highest bid: £10.
2. The House on the Chine: Robert Louis Stevenson at Skerryvore (signed copy). Donated by Sian Mackay. Award winning author Sian Mackay’s fictive biography is set in the year 1885 when Robert Louis Stevenson lived with his American wife, Fanny, in Bournemouth at a villa called Skerryvore. There he befriended Henry James and there he wrote Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Kidnapped. Opening bid: £10.
3. The Rocks, fine art print. Donated by Geoff MacEwan. No. 2 of a limited edition of six prints by Geoff MacEwan. Born in Edinburgh, 1943, Geoff MacEwan trained as an artist at London’s Goldsmiths College and the Slade School. His work is in many private and public collections including the V & A, National Library of Scotland, Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh University Library, The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and the Miro Foundation. Reserve price: £40.
4. Crumble a Month. Donated by Katri Hastings. I will bake a crumble of your choice once (will need some notice) a month for you for three months – my apple and cinnamon is a favourite and I am happy to sub in a peach cobbler if you want. It will be vegan friendly – I use margarine. I have never made gluten free but happy to try ?. Current highest bid: £15.
5. Beginner Cello Lessons. Donated by Caro Wilkinson. Three beginners cello lessons with an experienced teacher. Loan of a cello included. Minimum age 7; Adults (all ages!) particularly welcome. To take place at a mutually agreed time/location bearing in mind current Covid restrictions. Three further lessons can be also be taken up for a further donation to Edinburgh Greens. Opening bid: £60.
6. Cotton Tote Bag. Donated by Nick Palmer. Handmade cotton tote bag in black with tie at shoulder and decorative multicoloured circle front and back. Opening bid: £20.
7. Dawn Walk. Donated by Alison Neathey. I’ll take you on a walk in and around Holyrood Park starting any time from 5am to 7am. Stillness, owl hoots and a full moon if you’re lucky! Up to two and a half hours long, up and down hills or more on a level. If you like, could do a few more for further donations to Edinburgh Greens. Opening bid: £10.
8. Special Edition of Soaps. Donated by Caroline Barr. Four soaps, weighing 500g, hand-made using a scent of your choice. Each soap in an organza bag. Current highest bid: £7.
9. Knitted Tea Cosy. Donated by Sue Fuller. Floral knitted tea cosy, like the one pictured, to be knitted early in the new year. Opening bid: £30.
10. Hand Woven Scarf – Donated by John Palmer. Handwoven, short scarf (85.5cm x 25.5cm) in Merino and lambswool/polyamide mix. Fringed and hem-stitched with brooch pin. Colours: clove, sea green and topaz. Opening bid: £30.
11. Walk with Amateur Forager. Donated by Katri Hastings. I have been foraging since I was a child, I am not a professional but will happily take you around Blackford or Corstorphine Hill and show you what I know and offer recipe suggestions. Opening bid: £5.
12. Landscape Photography Master Class. Donated by Andrew Brough. As a previous professional photographer I will take the winning bidder on walk around Edinburgh and offer tuition on taking better images – tailored to what you want out of the 3 hour walk but could include: Learning to see light and composition; Camera modes (manual, aperture priority, shutter priority); Camera settings; Light – the most important aspect of photography; Viewfinder vs. liveview/monitor; Blue hour vs golden hour. Current highest bid: £40.
