For April’s Green Talk, we will be joined by sustainability expert Adam Al-khateb, a Scottish Palestinian member of the Scottish Greens, on improving energy efficiency in the residential housing sector.
We will also hear from Edinburgh Green councillor Ben Parker about recent issues around retrofitting in the local authority.
Non-members are welcome and can sign up to receive Zoom details here. All Edinburgh and West Lothian branch members will receive an email with Zoom details if on our mailing list.
Adam Al-khateb is an energy and environmental engineer and has been involved in the sustainability field for over 10 years. Adam helps the residential housing sector become more sustainable and has helped over 300 households save money and energy through energy efficiency.
The Scottish housing sector is responsible for an estimated 6.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Addressing emissions from the housing sector is crucial for Scotland to meet its climate targets, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.
Adam will discuss energy efficiency within the housing sector, with a focus on future energy standards, economic and environmental benefits of sustainable homes and an overview on how we can reach net zero targets. The talk will summarise how we can enhance energy efficiency, by insulating our homes and adopting low-carbon heating solutions.
The Green Talk will be followed by branch business and announcements for members-only.
Online meetings are on Zoom and have closed captions enabled. Look out for details of how to join the online meetings in your monthly member e-news and reminder email.
