Leith’s participatory budgeting scheme gives local residents the chance to choose funding of up to £5,000 per project.
Come along then to the Leith Community Centre in the Kirkgate, meet all the project applicants in person and learn about the projects, and then place your votes in the ballot box there and then.
Everyone eight years or older who lives, works, volunteers or attends school or college in Leith is eligible to vote.
In-person voting opens at 12 midday (until 3pm) but you can come at 11am if you need/prefer a crowd-free ‘quiet’ voting experience. There will be an opportunity to vote online afterwards between 20 January and 3 February.
Even if you are unable to vote, it is a fabulous day of local people meeting up for all the right reasons. Listen to the various projects touting their projects as the one which people should vote for and meet the people behind all the ideas.
Free refreshments are available. There is free face painting and a ‘smoothie bike’ for kids.
