This Sunday we’ll be heading to Cammo Estate Park for our outdoor Spring social. Cammo is a beautiful place to walk and explore with remains of a mansion and walled garden, a canal and water tower.
With woodland, grassland and a pond, it’s also a wonderful place to explore Edinburgh’s wildlife so we’ll be taking part in the 2023 City Nature Challenge (CNC) to see what we can spot and record during the afternoon.
If you’d like to take part we’d recommend going to the CNC website and downloading the app before Sunday – this is required to submit records but not to take part in the event. You don’t need to be a wildlife expert and the app is a fun way to learn more. For those with a competitive streak you can also keep an eye on the city leaderboard!
Please note that this is an Edinburgh Greens social and not a guided or led event, though we will share information about the app and some wildlife recording kit. All are welcome but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Toilets in the Cammo Lodge Visitor Centre are open 2-4pm.
The park can be reached either by bus 41 (last stop followed by a walk through a residential area) or bus 31 which stops at Craigs Road from which there is a car free road (Cammo Walk) can be taken straight to the park.
We’ll be meeting in the middle of the park at Cammo House remains.
For helpful info about wandering round the park, the Friends of Cammo have some self-guided walks maps here.
