Join the Edinburgh East Greens as we take an amble through Craigmillar towards Portobello. Children and dogs welcome!
We’ll be meeting up at the Tourist Centre. Contact number for on the day is 07970 311 943.
Here’s a link to a map with the route we’ll be taking >
Start at Craigmillar Castle in beautiful parkland where we can chat witches, monarchy and green space, and we’ll then head through Niddrie and Bingham to see the site of a proposed 20 minute neighbourhood and a local nature reserve, over the railway junction (for all the fans of the Edinburgh Suburban and Southside Railway restoration) and finally end up at the community-owned Bellfield Community Hub.
There will be plenty of chances to peel off and get a bus or train back into town on the way, or meet us en route if you want a shorter walk, and an optional dip in the sea at the end!
Getting there: Craigmillar Castle is in Craigmillar Castle Park which is accessible by lots of different bus routes going along Old Dalkeith Road or to the Royal Infirmary/Little France.
Historic Environment Scotland has more information about getting there and also access:
