Your Green Councillor

Melanie Main is our Green Councillor for the Morningside ward, having been re-elected in May 2017.

Melanie Main is Green Spokesperson for Health and Social Care, and for Goverance and Audit.

She went to James Gillespies’ High and got her first taste of politics at EUSA (Edinburgh University Students Association). In a former life she ran ‘probably London’s most influential Comedy Club’.

Melanie shops local, is a founding member of Bruntsfield’s Community Greengrocer, ‘Dig-in’, and has become something of an expert in establishing Rights of Way.

Melanie lives locally with her husband, daughter and two cats.

Volunteer, join, donate

We’re always looking for volunteers to help us make Edinburgh a Greener and fairer city. If you’d like to get involved in our campaigns locally, please email If you’d like to volunteer more widely in the city, click here for more information.

You don’t have to be a Green Party member to get active with the local group, but of course we would urge all our supporters to consider joining. To join the Scottish Green Party, click here.

We always need help with funds for campaigning. Please donate if you can; or if you have a fundraising idea, email us.
