Edinburgh – we are what we eat.
Join Edinburgh’s Greenminded for an evening’s discussion about Edinburgh’s food. How do we reach a sustainable food economy for our city? What should be our priorities and where do the opportunities lie?
We’ll be joined by Pete Ritchie, one of the leading voices in Scotland’s organic movement, who runs Whitmuir Farm with his partner Heather Anderson. He has a background in community development and social policy. Pete is an executive director of Nourish Scotland, ‘reconnecting producers, growers, retailers, consumers and all who care for local, sustainable food in Scotland’. He was most recently in the news with the hugely successful Edible Edinburgh Festival Feeding the 5000.
Edinburgh’s food community are invited to share their views on what Greens could do to help, support and encourage Edinburgh’s sustainable food economy.
As always, the branch meeting will be 7.30-9.30pm, at the Quaker Meeting House, Victoria Terrace (above Victoria Street). We also retire to the pub afterwards for less formal chat, if you wish to join us there – Castle Arms, also on Victoria Terrace.
NEW MEMBERS: If you’re new to Edinburgh Greens or haven’t joined us at a branch meeting before, then you’re welcome to come along early and meet some members of the committee. Feel free to ask questions on what to expect, how you can help the party, and who does what in the branch. We’ll be there from 7pm so come and say hi!
