Lothian Green MSP Autumn Update

It’s been a busy few months for our two Lothian MSPs, Alison Johnstone and Andy Wightman. You can read all about their latest work, successes, and campaigns in their Lothian Members Update 2017 Autumn.

In just the past week our Green MSPs led the Scottish Parliament to ban fracking, successfully adding an amendment that would ensure future governments would need to go to Parliament in order to overturn it.

Meanwhile, Andy has continued his campaigns on vacant and derelict land, seeking changes which encourage the development of affordable housing, and on short term lets, which are becoming a major issue in Edinburgh.

Alison has questioned the First Minister over the private sale of the Sick Kids hospital when a community right to buy bid was active, convinced the Scottish Government to implement the Young Carers Grant (a Green manifesto pledge), and campaigned against turning the Old Royal High School into a hotel.
