The Greens have selected Kate Joester as Green candidate for the Forth Ward in the City Council elections on 3 May 2007
Kate is 30 and lives in the Forth ward with her partner and young daughter and baby son. A resident of Edinburgh for the past 12 years, she first moved here to study Linguistics at Edinburgh University, and stayed to work in a range of voluntary organisations. Her professional and activist background is mostly in equalities and human rights, working to get a wide range of voices heard in the political process through organisations such as the Equality Network and Engender.
Since her daughter was born in 2004, Kate has combined parenting with work as an information officer for a small charity. She enjoys cycling as well as knitting, sewing and playing jazz saxophone.
