Pentland Hills Ward: Candidate – Shonagh McEwan

The Greens have selected Shonagh McEwan as the candidate for the Pentland Hills ward in the City Council elections on 3 May 2007.

Shonagh McEwan, 29, grew up in East Lothian, and moved to Edinburgh eight years ago. She is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh with two degrees: a 1st class honours in geography, and a PhD in disability sport. She was awarded a Full Blue at University for her international achievements in golf and is still a very keen golfer, maintaining a golf handicap of 3.

Shonagh previously worked as a Research Associate on an Edinburgh-based housing project at The University of Edinburgh; as a youth worker in South Edinburgh with young disabled people; and an advice worker with Leith Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

She currently balances two part-time jobs as a Research and Policy Officer for the Green MSPs in the Scottish Parliament, and a Research and Innovation Officer, based in the campaigns section of the housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
