Green councillor wins environmental impact award

At the inaugural Local Government Information Unit Councillor Achievement awards last night, Green councillor Gavin Corbett was the winner of the environmental impact award, one of eight awards on the table.

Councillor for Fountainbridge-Craiglockhart since 2012, Gavin is city canal champion, an active volunteer with Water of Leith Conservation Trust and founder of the Clean Green Hutchison campaign.

He is also active with Friends of Harrison Park, Friends of Easter Craiglockhart Hill and Fountainbridge Canalside Initiative and is a local scout leader. He is more often seen with litter picker and wellies than suit and tie.
