Green councillor and top Holyrood candidate, Alison Johnstone, has joined a chorus of concerned voices about proposed increases in charges for using sports facilities at secondary schools. Former East of Scotland middle-distance running champion, Alison said:
“Fifty per cent of our primary school children aren’t receiving a minimum of two hours of PE and this hike in charges for secondary schools could lead to that being exacerbated.
“I would also like to hear more from the clubs because we are not hearing a great deal about the impact on them. There seems to be a complete dearth of consultation and responses from users.”
