South East Edinburgh sub-branch and Morningside Greens are coming together this month for a joint meeting to discuss.
Upstairs in Nelson Hall. Followed by a trip to a local pub.
Monthly team meeting of the Leith and Leith Walk sub-branch.
We meet in the Persevere room of the Leith Community Centre. Access from Newkirkgate precinct via outside stairs, or via lift.
All members welcome. If you haven’t been to a meeting before and would like to touch base first, email our membership secretary Kevin Whitelaw: leith.leithwalk@scottishgreens.org.uk – say hello and ask any questions.
Accessibility: The meeting venue can be accessed via a lift from the Newkirkgate precinct (note, there is a longish walkway from the level 1 lift exit to the community centre door); alternatively, via the car park ramp to the rear of the building. If you have any communications support needs or other accessibility queries, please contact leith.leithwalk@scottishgreens.org.uk.
If you live in the area, would like to be involved but can’t come to meetings, check our Twitter @GreensPersevere, or email us to discuss helping out in other ways.
For the first time since 2017 the West Lothian Greens are holding a meeting to get back on our feet! All members of the Scottish Greens are welcome as we hear from our local Green MSPs on work they have been doing for West Lothian over the past few years and we hear from the Leith & Leith Walk Co-Convenors about what it takes to run a Sub-Branch.
So you want to be a councillor? What are the realities of working as an elected member of the City of Edinburgh Council?

- How the Council is structured and operates
- Join a mock council meeting to debate issues of the day.
Registration:
This is a free event, but registration is required. Please reserve your place via eventbrite.
Accessibility:
This event is fully accessible, but is located in an old building with lifts. Please email in advance events.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk if you might need any support with getting around or participating, so that we can arrange a ‘buddy’.
Do you know about The Access To Elected Office Fund, which is delivered by Inclusion Scotland and supported by the Scottish Government?

Geeks Assemble!
So you like comic books, sci-fi and fantasy – or just love a really good quiz with Green friends? We have just the social event for you!
Whether you’re a slayerette, time traveller or a girly swot, there’ll be a round for you in this quiz. Don your best costume, slogan tee, or just your regular garb (so nobody will know you’re really a superhero…), find a team, and get geeky.
Featuring a raffle, cash bar, refreshments and an awesome soundtrack, join Edinburgh Greens to celebrate the drawing to a close of 2019!
This is open to non-members too, so invite your green-curious friends!
Accessibility:
- The main entrance to the building is up four steps with a handrail. Step-free access is available via a door to the right of the building (please ring the bell for attention). A disabled toilet is available at this level.
- The venue has a hearing loop which can be used during the quiz (please request at the registration desk).
- If you require any communication support which would make the event more accessible for you, please contact us in advance: events.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk

It’s all hands on deck to prep the A-boards for 12 December!
We need a dozen or more helpers to strip and re-poster ca.150 A-boards which will go outside polling stations all over Edinburgh on 12 December. A-boards are an important visual reinforcement on polling day. Our A-board posters for this election are exceptionally Green and lovely, and we need your help to get them ready.
We’ll make it a fun social activity. Quality chat with other Greens while we prep the boards; tea, coffee & biscuits provided. If you can come, please drop us a line: volunteers.edin@scottishfgreens.org.uk or just turn up.
When: Sunday 8th December – 9.30 for 10am start.
Where: at former Community Ability Network ‘CAN’ shop, 94 Niddrie Mains Road, EH16 4DT.
Polling day for general elections 2019: can you help on the day?
There’s a lot to do on polling day. Could you help deliver and set up ‘Vote Green’ A-boards outside polling stations in your area early on Thursday morning?
Or can you spend an hour or 2 as a ‘Polling Place Green‘ outside a polling place, welcoming and directing voters?
Please email us – we’d like to hear from you! volunteers.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk.
Get together with other Greens from the Inverleith and Forth local teams.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.
Now we’re nearing the end of a fairly fraught 2019, let’s get together with Green friends for some general warming.
Come along on Thursday 19th, Abode bar on Leith Walk from 7pm. Everyone is very welcome!
