A Climate Bill is going through the Scottish Parliament now, but it’s not strong enough and it doesn’t respond to the latest science coming from the IPCC.

The Scottish Greens in Holyrood are calling for a Climate Emergency Bill that catalyses radical emission cuts across the economy, protecting our futures and making Scotland better for everyone.

This meeting will include a parliamentary perspective on pushing for more radical targets through parliament; consider the effect of rapid decarbonisation on jobs; and look at climate action campaigns and movements happening locally.

There will also be an interactive breakout session for group discussions on campaign actions and to explore our speakers’ topic areas.

Our speakers:

– Alison Johnstone MSP
– Emily Bankert, Extinction Rebellion Edinburgh outreach group
– Pete Cannell, one of the founders of Scot.E3: Employment, Energy and Environment
– Dr Sam Page, 30 years working with smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia and has seen the impacts of climate change first hand.

Doors open at 7pm, with the event beginning at 7.30pm. Party members and non-members all very welcome. There will be a craft area for children.
