About

Scottish Green Party members and supporters from Leith and Leith Walk wards have formed a sub branch. We are an active group, and welcome new people to join us – you don’t have to be a party member.

Your local Green councillor

Chas Booth was elected as the Green Councillor for Leith on Edinburgh Council in May 2012, and was re-elected in May 2017. He is the Green Party spokesperson for Transport and Planning and a member of the Transport and Environment Committee.

Prior to his election in May 2012 Chas was a fuel poverty campaigner with a small trade association in Leith. He was a member of the Scottish Government’s fuel poverty forum advising on policy and implementation. He has also campaigned for Friends of the Earth Scotland, managed the Edinburgh office of sustainable transport charity Sustrans, worked for the Green Party in the Scottish and European Parliaments, and taught English in Bavaria and Bosnia.

Chas lives in Leith with his wife and two young children. A full biography is available here.

Your local Green team

Get involved: The Leith and Leith Walk sub branch meets on the second Thursday of every month. We welcome new members and supporters who want to see a fairer, greener Leith. Click here for details of our next meeting.

You don’t have to attend meetings to be involved. Can you help deliver printed materials in your area? Would you like to join one of our campaigns, or help with fundraising? We’d love to hear from you – get in touch!

Volunteer, join, donate

We’re always looking for volunteers to help us make Edinburgh a Greener and Fairer City. If you’d like to get involved in our campaigns locally, please email leith.leithwalk@scottishgreens.org.uk. If you’d like to volunteer more widely in the city, click here for more information.

You don’t have to be a Green Party member to be active with the local group, but of course we would urge all our supporters to consider joining. To join the Scottish Green Party, click here.

We always need help with funds for campaigning. Please donate if you can; or if you have a fundraising idea, email us.
