Children Help Turn Scotland Green

With less than a week till Scotland elects a new parliament, Edinburgh nursery children today helped turn Scotland Green as the Scottish Greens campaign to win MSP representation in every one of the 8 parliamentary regions.

The Scottish Greens – campaigning for a better Scotland, a bolder Holyrood – are polling strongly on the regional vote with analysis suggesting between 7 and 12 MSPs will be elected.

Children at The Edinburgh Nursery today painted a huge map of the country green, assisted by Lothian candidates Alison Johnstone and Andy Wightman, and visiting Green MP Caroline Lucas.

Alison Johnstone, Scottish Green MSP candidate for Edinburgh Central and Lothian region, said:

“For the past five years people in Lothian region and Glasgow have had Green representation in parliament from myself and Patrick Harvie. Latterly we’ve been joined by John Finnie and John Wilson representing Highlands and Islands and Central Scotland.

“With Green MSPs representing every region we can ensure a bolder parliament and a better Scotland. With just two MSPs for most of the last session, Greens have brought constructive pressure and delivered results, on everything from rent controls and fan ownership of football to fracking and energy efficient housing.

“With our excellent candidates across the regions we have experienced campaigners ready to represent every corner of this country and push for that bolder Holyrood we all know is possible. On Thursday next week regional Green votes will make all the difference to the direction our parliament takes over the coming five years so we urge everyone to help turn Scotland Green.”
