In response to the nature emergency and loss of biodiversity in Scotland, the government has committed to designating at least one new National Park in Scotland by the end of this Parliamentary session in 2026.
The Scottish Government wants to ensure that the nominations and appraisal process for new National Parks are open, fair and transparent and is seeking your views on the proposed framework and selection criteria.
This consultation has been initiated by Green MSP Lorna Slater, Minister for Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity.
