Edinburgh Greens value privacy and aim to wholly comply with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Use of personal information
Our email accounts are also held and managed by the Scottish Green Party. They are accessible by elected branch committee members with the appropriate role, and other trusted members of Edinburgh Greens.
What personal information does Edinburgh Greens collect?
On this website we have a contact form and email links. We collect your email address and name, if provided, along with any other personal information that you provide in your email message.
We may also have forms for other uses (e.g. to seek your views) which may require personal details.
Any visitor statistics collected on this website are not personally identifiable.
We do embed Twitter social media feeds on this site which may track your online behaviour; however we do not collect this information ourselves.
For fundraising purposes and event registration, we link to external sites such as Crowdfunder, PayPal and Eventbrite. The personal information that you provide there is subject to the privacy policies of those websites. If we download any personal information from these sites, it will be for a specific purpose (e.g. to be able to report donations to the Electoral Commission – see more in the next section).
Why do we collect this information?
We primarily collect personal information to be able to respond to enquiries and requests, and to verify who you are. We will only hold this information for as long as the purpose requires.
We do not collect your personal information for the purpose of adding you to our mailing list. We only send bulk emails to members of Edinburgh Greens who can opt in or out of mailing when they sign up to become a member.
However, if you visit https://greens.scot, your personal information is collected when you sign up to a campaign, for the purpose of keeping you informed or asking you to donate to the party.
Donor details are recorded for the legal necessity of reporting donations above a certain value to the Electoral Commission, although they not held by the party after that report has been made. However, spending returns once lodged are available for scrutiny to the public and this helps us be transparent and above board regarding our funding.
Who will we share this information with?
We will not share this information with anyone outside the Scottish Green Party without your specific consent.
Any personal information collected via forms on this website are held on the secure servers of web hosting provider 34SP.
How you can find out what personal data we hold about you?
You have a right to find out what information we hold about you and will provide it to you within one month of receiving your request.
